Inka injured her back during a move and regrettably all remaining scheduled
conventions for Inka Stamps have been canceled. She hopes to be able to return to conventions soon!
Get Ready!
Make sure you have your map and driving directions ready. Make a list of specific things you need to
purchase. Use a tote bag or backpack to carry a few things you will need as well as to carry your
purchases. Here are a few things you might want to take……a plastic letter size mailer with a piece
of sturdy cardboard in it. That way you can keep the card stock that you buy from getting crushed.
You can also put the project sheets that some vendors give out in there to keep them nice. Also,
take a candy bar and a small bottle of water. (There is usually a snack booth available but I am
usually sooooo busy looking at everything I hate to take the time to stand in line.) The candy bar
will tide you over until later in the day when the lines are not so long. Take the time to print
some address labels to take with you. Make sure they have your name, address, phone number and email
address. When you hit the booths that have drawings or a mailing list, just stick your label on the
form. They are also good when you meet another stamper you wish to have future contact with. A small
hand mirror is handy to have when you are looking at unmounted word stamps. You can hold the stamp
up to the mirror and be able to read what it says. Most vendors have card and project examples so,
if you take a lightweight camera (the disposable is great for this), you can take pictures of the
cards/projects/ideas that you like. Be sure to ask the vendor if pictures are okay; most will say
yes. Stamp some pins to trade (this is not required, just fun) and be sure to put one of your address
labels on the back. I put some of my older convention pins on my tote bag. This way other traders
know I am willing to trade pins (and I don't have to take the time to pin on each one I receive that
day.) Make at least 50 pins (or more.) Never tell another stamper you don't like her pin enough to
trade - some stampers may be new at this or they just might not have the same tastes as you do. If
you have any pins left over at the end of the day, you could just hand them out or save them for your
next convention (you are going again, aren't you?) But most importantly, make sure you have on
comfortable shoes !!!!
GET SET!
When you arrive you will be given a map of the booth sites and special sales that vendors will be
running and a list of classes and demos that will be taking place that day. Check for Inka Stamps in that list!
Take the time to go
through this brochure and decide where you need to be at what time. Sign up for any classes you
want.
GO!
When you are making purchases, ask about a catalog. Often the catalog is free, or comes with a
discount coupon with purchase. Be polite, don't push, shove. A happy stamper is a courteous stamper.
Many come that are disabled, so please be respectful of them. Don't forget to buy cushion for
mounting the unmounted stamps you have bought (if you need it) and have FUN FUN FUN!
